More Than: A Prophet
Who is God? For some, God is a concept—a nondescript “higher power.” For others, God is a figment of the culture’s imagination. What about you? Who do you say that God is? The Bible answers that question for us clearly. God is faithful. God is abounding in love. God forgives. At the same time, God is also just. He punishes the wicked. He deals with sin by condemning it. To our way of thinking, these characteristics of God conflict with each other. This is why God sent his Son. Jesus is more than an old soul. He speaks for God, but he is far more than a prophet. When we watch and listen to Jesus, we see who our God really is. He is the God who has the power to redeem creation. He is the God who has come to announce good news to poor miserable sinners. But he is also the God who must suffer and die so that wickedness is punished and sin is condemned. This is who the one true God is!
