More Than: Once
Christians have responsibility to their fellow man. We are called to be faithful watchmen. In our reading from Ezekiel, we hear a prophecy of restoration. The previous chapters of this book are filled with prophecies of the destruction of Jerusalem. God called Ezekiel to warn Israel about sin and its consequences. This is tough work, but also what God calls us to do in Matthew 18. Confronting sinners with love and humility is challenging, but we are called to pay the continuing debt of love we have to one another. The demands God makes of Christians is enough to make our heads swim with anxiety and apprehension. Where can we find the strength? We must look to Christ, who lovingly warned us about the seriousness of sin and sacrificed himself to pay our sin debt. Christ is our watchman, our strength, and Savior! Jesus is strong enough to call sinners home, heal broken relationships, and form us into a people who live the Gospel.
