The Cost: of Living Water

Sometimes when you live in a growing community, as we do, you look at small towns and become entranced by their charm—the slower pace of life, the wide open space, the friendly faces that you find. Small-town life comes with many blessings, but it is not free from sin. In John 4, we meet a woman from a small town, where everybody knew everybody and all their business, too. And this woman had a past she wished she could keep to herself. So instead of going to the community well when everyone else did, she went in the middle of the day. Yet that day, she found someone else there—Jesus. He knew her past. He knew her present struggles. Yet, he came to give her peace and hope. Even though she was a sinner, he loved her and wanted her to know who he was. Today, that same Jesus comes to us to demonstrate his love and give us peace and hope.
