Come and See: The Spirit
Plenty of people reject the Christian church for what it stands for and does at its worst moments. But today, we see its foundation is not Christians but Christ. Christians believe and confess that they cannot and will not be saved by their own morality or righteousness. God’s Spirit cannot and will not be mocked. But the Holy Spirit is not just active in convicting souls, but speaking the truth about Jesus Christ and winning souls to salvation. This is the Spirit the Apostles received on the very first Pentecost. This is the same blessing we receive as God works and strengthens faith through Word and Sacrament. What a blessing it is to have a God who knows and loves us so deeply! This same Holy Spirit kindles in our hearts the holy fire of God’s love so that we may speak with accuracy and confidence about all the Christ has done for the world!
