He Saves: Through His Word

On what is our entire faith life based? Without this, nothing can be known about God. Only our natural knowledge could give us a hint of what God is like or expects. The answer, of course, is the Bible. How do you know the Bible is God's Word? (And “because my mother told me so” does not count.) This section of the Bible gives us one of the most important passages that deals with that subject. "All Scripture is God-breathed." No exceptions, and because God gave it to us by that fancy term "verbal inspiration", it has no mistakes.  God can't make a mistake, can he? Otherwise, he would not be God, right?  Here, too, we're reminded that God's Word "is able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ." Isn't that a summary of the whole Scripture? This is one of those sermons that is heavy on appropriation; that's a fancy way of saying 'something we need to learn in our heads' but with lesser emphasis on 'I can do/use this in my life'.
