He Saves: Us From Wasting Our Lives

Many remark that we are living in dark days. By this, they mean that the present —and the future—are marked by sadness, hardship, afflictions, and breakdowns at ever level. Mankind borrows this concept from the One who made light through his powerful Word. We are living in dark days, but the solution is not to generate our own light. By nature, all mankind lives in the darkness of selfishness, sin, and hostile unbelief. In the Old Testament, God’s response was to send light bearers into the world of darkness, people who spoke his Word to sinners. In the Gospels, we see that, in Jesus, God sent the Light of life to shine in a world of darkness. In Isaiah, God promised he would send this light. In Matthew, we meet the light as Jesus calls people living in the deep darkness of unbelief to live in his glorious and life-giving light. In 1st John, we are told that now, we are to be light bearers today. May God strengthen and equip us to let our light shine in everything we say and do and glorify our Father in heaven!
