All In: One Master Only

Our Good Shepherd has demonstrated his love and faithfulness to us in coming into this world for us. God has purchased and won us and made his Church a healthy body. Today, we hear a sobering assessment of how we will be treated in this world. I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Peter warns us that the Devil is like a prowling lion. Our knee-jerk reaction is to ask Jesus why. Why put us in this position? Why does the wicked foe and this world look to devour and destroy us? Because of the One who redeemed us—the One we represent in this world. Yet, the Lord Almighty has not left us to fend for ourselves. He has promised to restore us through his Word and Sacraments. He will also make us strong, firm, and steadfast to his Word. Even when the faithful fall, the Lord leads us out of death to life.
