The Healthy Body: Generous & Cheerful

One of the great accusations against the Church is that all she cares about is money. There are more than a few examples of spiritual leaders using extortionary tactics to bleed the people they are called to serve dry. Often, they are propped up by only a few Bible passages. This is wrong and grieves God more than man. But that doesn’t mean that God is silent on the matter of our money or has no claim to it at all. Today, we are reminded on why God is concerned at all about material wealth. Jesus tells us: Where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. The things that we possess so easily possess our hearts and consume our minds. Through his generous grace, God changes our hearts and renews our minds to see something different in our possessions. They are gifts from God—distributed to each one of us as God sees fit for our needs and the needs of those around us. In Christ, we become generous people!
