In today’s world, searching is easier than ever. Whether you’re looking for specific information, a particular product, or certain people, technology has put it all within our grasp. But what we’re all really searching for goes beyond that.

Over the past weeks, we have been watching and listening as the Resurrected Jesus interacts with those who were discouraged by his death and doubted his resurrection. A shift begins today.

Each year, we meditate on a beloved illustration: Jesus as our Good Shepherd. Throughout the Holy Scriptures, God unfolds this beautiful picture. So many of Israel’s heroes (Abraham, Moses, and David) were shepherds, first and foremost.

Since the fall into sin, the hope of God’s people was tied to the Messiah whom God has promised would crush the serpent’s head. What most had forgotten was that the serpent would also strike the Messiah’s heel.

In these days after Easter, the Church continues to live in the glow of resurrection light. The tomb is still empty, and the promise of new life rings fresh in our hearts.

After more than a month of humble repentance and prayer, God’s people gather to celebrate the consumption of their prayers. Death has been defanged.
